PURCHASE REQUIREMENTS:
If you have decided to purchase a dachshund puppy from us, we will need you to provide us with assurances and comply with the following:
LIVING SITUATION
That you are over the age of 26 and in a stable living situation. I may ask to see your Driver’s License to verify your age or identity.
That you have a living situation compatible with owning a dog. (i.e., your landlord will allow pets.) If you have a lease or landlord, we will require a note from the landlord, or to be shown the lease allowing such pet.
That you have the time for a dog. It is not reasonable to leave a puppy alone all the time. Leaving the puppy alone too many hours is not conducive to raising a puppy or achieving house training. However, as people need to work, there are accommodations that can be made. Please ask me about these options.
That you are willing to financially support a dog, and have it spayed/neutered.
That you are willing to learn and perform some basic grooming, i.e. trimming nails, ear cleaning, etc. Or, in the alternative, are you willing to pay someone to do this for you?
We do not ask these questions to be nosy. We only wish to make sure that our wonderful dachshund puppy, whom we loved and cared for from birth, does not end up at the pound or rescue center.
I do not discourage first time Dachshund owners, and am happy to be a resource for you and the puppy that will change you forever. Once you own a Dachshund, you will never be without one again.
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE TO SELL A PUPPY TO ANY PERSON. WE DO NOT KNOWINGLY SELL TO BROKERS, PET STORES OR OTHER COMMERCIAL OR RESCUE ENTITIES.
IF YOU CANNOT KEEP THE DACHSHUND YOU PURCHASED FROM US FOR ANY REASON, WE ASK THAT YOU ADVISE US SO THAT WE CAN KEEP HIM/HER FROM GOING TO THE POUND OR RESCUE.
PUPS WILL BE SOLD ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS AND AT MY SOLE DISCRETION, WHETHER WE ARE USING A RESERVE LIST OR NOT.
GIFTS: WE WILL NOT SELL DACHSHUND PUPS AS GIFTS WITHOUT MEETING THE RECIPIENT, (THE ONLY EXCEPTION BEING THE RECIPIENT IS A SPOUSE). IF YOU ARE PURCHASING THE PUPPY FOR SOMEONE ELSE, THE PERSON WHOM YOU ARE PURCHASING THE PUP FOR MUST COME WITH YOU TO YOUR APPOINTMENT TO SEE THE PUP.
KNOWLEDGE OF BREED
Please DO read books, google, and any other information you can get your hands on about the breed you are purchasing. I do not mind answering your questions, ever! There is no such thing as a dumb question. I have many puppy tips that will help you raise your puppy happily and healthy. I have no problem sharing any knowledge with you and I am happy to look up anything I do not know. (No one knows everything!)
DEPOSIT
We require a $500.00 deposit to hold your puppy until its going home date. I do not deposit your check or monies for 72 hours after receipt. Should you change your mind, this would be the only time period in which your deposit can be refunded. After the 72 hours, if you back out on the sale of your healthy puppy, you will forfeit your deposit. The balance is due upon pick up of your puppy. Due to the extraordinary number of scams, including forgery of bank checks, the balance due on a pup is to be paid in cash. Personal checks will not be accepted as final payment. There will be no exceptions.
I have the right to refuse to sell the puppy to you and cancel the sale if I feel that your situation has changed, or you have been less than honest with me about your situation and/or environment you will be providing the puppy. Refunds of deposits in these events, will be considered on a case by case basis.
VISITING
MASKS ARE MANDATORY DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
We encourage all buyers to visit their dachshund puppy as frequently as both of our schedules will allow and as to not jeopardize the puppies’ health. Please keep in mind that you need to make an appointment for all visitations as the puppies live among my family and I am needed by them also. However, I will do my best to accommodate you and your schedule.
NEVER visit another Breeder, pet store, kennel, Rescue, Pound, or other dogs, etc. prior to coming to visit or see a puppy. Doing so passes bacteria and viruses to the puppies which their immune system are too immature to handle. Doing so can cause fatal illness to the entire litter!
Please do not come sick. I may contract your illness, making my 24 hour/day job even harder.
You will be asked, and you must comply, with any requirements for sanitary/pandemic reasons, i.e. taking off your shoes prior to entrance of my home, application of Germ Gel to your hands and arms, holding the puppy in a towel from my home or any other reasonable requirement due to individual circumstances. Again, Masks are mandatory, and I may check your forehead with a temperature gun prior to entry.
REGISTRATION
Unless otherwise discussed and agreed upon with me, all puppies will be sold without, or with AKC Limited Registration Papers, and as “Pet Only”. AKC Full Registration is for the purposes of Show and Breeding. If you would like AKC Full Registration, please discuss same with me. You will be required to keep me on as a co-owner of the dog and there will be an additional fee added to the price of the puppy for which is due upon our agreement for same. Show puppies are sold on a Show Contract and the fee may be waived or refunded upon obtaining the Conformation Championship Title, or held in escrow, pursuant to other arrangements made with me prior, upon the dog obtaining his/her Conformation Championship Title, or other Performance Championship Titles.
GOING HOME DATES
Going Home Dates will be between 8 and 10 weeks of age and after the puppy has reached 2.5 pounds, as required by Law. You will be provided with an estimated going home date upon deposit of your puppy. On the final week, I will contact you to arrange for your precise date and time of pick up. Please make sure you mark your calendar so that you free yourself up for a couple of days following pick up to fully acclimate yourself and your puppy to your new life together.
FINAL PAYMENT
The balance of the purchase price (purchase price minus deposit) is due upon pick up or delivery of your puppy. We accept final payment in Cash Only.
DEPOSITS can be made in cash, personal check, or bank check.
Personal checks will not be accepted as final payment. No exceptions.
BREEDING/STUD SERVICE: Breeding/Stud Service of any puppy/dog obtained from me, is prohibited unless prior arrangements have been made and agreements (contracts) have been agreed to and signed. I do believe in helping others Better their Breeding Program, however, I will require your dog/bitch to be AKC registered, assessed by me for conformation, temperment, and will need a copy of a vet exam indicating that the dog/bitch is healthy. In addition, brucellosis testing within 30 days, is mandatory for all live covers. Be advised that I will require you to become much more knowledgeable in the breed, dogs in general, and breeding practices. This may include your coming to a dog show(s), learning the Breed Standard, structure, etc. Any and all decisions regarding breeding will be done on a case by case basis. All arrangements will be prior planned, so you should be making your plans months in advance. Successful Breeding and producing great puppies always requires a lot of thought and preparation. The Goal is to produce quality, healthy, sound puppies, bred to the DCA Breed Standard.
